Helping you understand your Help to Buy loan

IMH

As the Help to Buy loan or similar type of loan if you are in Scotland or Wales, is interest free for the first five years (longer in Scotland) many of our customers defer repaying the loan until the fifth anniversary is near.
Although at first glance this may seem sensible, as the loan is calculated as a percentage of the value of your home, if your home increases in value each year so does the value of your loan. The longer you leave it, the more you have to repay, so you need a plan.
When your mortgage is due to be reviewed, our specialist Advisers will review not just your mortgage, but also your Help to Buy loan and tailor a plan to help you and offer advice on what this means if you retain your loan.
